  • Aarolyns House of Hope (AHOH) was established in 2021, as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity in order to purchase a house, in the Detroit area, and develop a hospitality house to provide lodging for solid organ transplant recipients and caregivers.

  • Caregivers must be available and accessible during the transplant surgery and the several weeks of recovery. Traveling greater than 30+ miles from a hospital can be burdensome and most often caregivers feel the need to stay close and quickly available to the recipient.

  • Hospitals do not provide for caregivers yet they are essential.

  • Aarolyns House of Hope (AHOH) will provide Henry Ford and other nearby hospitals with the comfort of knowing that caregivers have a place to rest and refuel, enabling them to take better care of the patient.

  • Patients will have access to AHOH lodging, post-transplant, for the required frequent clinic visits following surgery.

  • AHOH will be staffed with transplant-aware volunteers who understand the new lifestyle changes that are required. Further, the house will be managed by a board of directors and a full-time paid house manager.

  • A kitchen will be available for guests to store and heat food, and coffee will be offered throughout the day. Local volunteer groups will be asked to provide a warm meal for guests several times each month.

  •  Establishing a quality hospitality house with 4–6 bedrooms is the goal. Aarolyns House of Hope anticipates opening its door to the first transplant family by 2025!
